Sydney with kids aged 3 to 6
Ferries, beaches, and harbor parks
Sydney is built around one of the most beautiful harbors in the world. For kids aged 3 to 6, ferry rides are an attraction in themselves, harbor beaches are calmer than the surf beaches, and parks with great playgrounds are everywhere.
Best time to go
Spring and fall are mild and pleasant. Summer is hot and busy, especially during Australian school holidays. Winter is cool but often sunny.
Getting around
Ferries, trains, light rail, and buses all accept Opal cards or contactless bank cards. Ferries are stroller friendly and a great way to reach Taronga Zoo and Manly. Many train stations have elevators.
Stroller notes
Circular Quay, the Royal Botanic Garden, and Darling Harbour are flat and stroller friendly. Coastal walks have stairs and steep sections, so bring a carrier.
Toilets and changing
Parks and beaches have public toilets. Shopping centers and major attractions have parent rooms with changing tables.
Nap tips
Ferry rides make great nap time. Plan a stroller nap in the Royal Botanic Garden or a hotel break in the heat of the day.
